Barbara Mori and Hrithik sizzles in Kites

Love sans boundary: Hrithik and Barbara sizzle in ‘Kites’

Anurag Basu has all the reason to rejoice, courtesy ‘Kites’, his latest under production venture that boasts of a remarkable star cast – Hrithik Roshan and Mexican hottie Barbara Mori. ‘Kites’ is based on the transcendental nature of love that goes beyond the barriers of culture and language.

‘Kites’ is a tale of two lovers, where Hrithik’s character speaks only in Hindi and Barbara’s character knows only Spanish. Despite the divide of language and cultural baggage, both fall in love! Although filmdom is abuzz with rumours of Hrithik-Barbara steamy scenes, but the movie is actually an intensely romantic tale of two lovers.

The movie gets spicier with a love triangle between Hrithik, Barbara and Kangana Ranaut's character that promises to offer a thrilling twist towards the end.

Anurag is ecstatic about working with handsome Hrithik for the first time and is all praises for the leading hero of his film. “Hrithik and I really enjoyed working together. I always respected him as an actor but now I respect him as a human being too. Hrithik and I made the film honestly, just like we wanted to," he said.

Anurag also talked about Hrithik’s professionalism. Hrithik, despite nursing a knee injury was always willing to work. “Before every shot I would be worried about Hrithik's knee. If anything happened to him, then our entire outdoor shooting schedule would've gone for a toss. But Hrithik asked me not to compromise the shots under any circumstance. I'm awed by the way he managed, without ever letting the shoot halt. He even did the few action scenes we have in the film himself," he added.

And that’s not all, as Anurag is extremely impressed by Barbara too! He says, "The day I narrated about ‘Kites’, I knew I had chosen the right actress. I've this bad habit of narrating very fast. Barbara is a Mexican actress, so she is not aware of Hindi and also less familiar with English. But the way she understood my story, hats off to her. Her expressions changed while I was narrating the story. I've never seen any actor responding this way. Even though she comes from a different culture, the emotions of love and relationships are the same. Her approach was definitely different."

‘Kites’ will hit the theatres in 2009. However, Basu is keeping his fingers crossed amid the rising expectations from a multilingual film.

Surely, a movie that involves genuine effort deserves all accolades!

He director is working with the very talented and handsome Hrithik Roshan for the first time

He said, “Hrithik and I really enjoyed working together. I always respected him as an actor but now I respect him as a human being too. Hrithik and I made the film honestly, just like we wanted to.”

He was amazed by Hirthik’s professionalism in spite of a knee injury.

He’s said, “Before every shot I would be worried about Hrithik’s knee. If anything happened to him, then our entire outdoor shooting schedule would’ve gone for a toss. But Hrithik asked me not to compromise the shots under any circumstance. I’m awed by the way he managed, without ever letting the shoot halt. He even did the few action scenes we have in the film himself.”

He’s impressed by Barbara Mori too.

He’s stated, “The day I narrated ‘Kites’ to her I knew I had chosen the right actress. I’ve this bad habit of narrating very fast. Barbara is a Mexican actress, so she knows no Hindi and little English. But the way she understood my story, hats off to her. Her expressions changed while I was narrating the story. I’ve never seen any actor respond this way. Even though she comes from a different culture, the emotions of love and relationships are the same. Her approach was definitely different.”

Kites will be complete in January of next year and Basu says he is nervous because of the huge expectations surrounding the multilingual film and hopes that it delivers.

Well, we would want the movie on which he worked so hard to deliver too.

Barbara Mori to shoot Kites in Mumbai as planned

The shocking terror attacks in Mumbai have not daunted the Mexican hottie Barbara Mori . She will still shoot with Hrithik Roshan in Mumbai as planned.

After completing a long schedule with the cast and crew of producer Rakesh Roshan’s movie Kites in the US, Barbara got attached to them and was very concerned about their well-being when she saw the horrible images of Mumbai terror attacks on television. At the same time she was worried about a shooting schedule in Mumbai for which she was to fly down to the city in January next year.

So producer Rakesh Roshan and director Anurag Basu had to speak with Barbara and assure her that she has nothing to worry about. She would be provided with adequate security upon her arrival.

After these assurances, Barbara has reportedly decided to come to Mumbai as planned. She would be shooting some crucial portions of the film with Hrithik and Kangana Ranaut .

Hrithik says Barbara is too professional to back out of the shooting.

Even Anurag Basu is all praise for the Mexican beauty. He says when he first narrated the script to her, she responded in a way that convinced him that she is the most suited for the role in the film.

Kites is not about SEX but Romance

Anurag Basu’s film Kites is currently in production and begins the final shooting schedule in Mumbai on the 20th of December. The film starring Hrithik Roshan, Kangana Ranaut and Barbara Mori is about love crossing not only cultural barriers but also language barriers. In the film Barabar Mori’s character only speaks Spanish and Hrithik only speaks in Hindi and yet they still fall in love. There is also a love triangle involving Kangana’s character and a thriller twist as well! But we will have to wait until next year to see how it all comes together. In an interview with Subhash K Jha director Basu talked about working with Hrithik and Barbara among other Kites things.

About working with Hrithik the director said, “Hrithik and I really enjoyed working together. I always respected him as an actor but now I respect him as a human being too. Hrithik and I made the film honestly, just like we wanted to.”

Hrithik’s knee injury, though a worry never was a problem even during the difficult stunts, Basu said, “Before every shot I would be worried about Hrithik’s knee. If anything happened to him, then our entire outdoor shooting schedule would’ve gone for a toss. But Hrithik asked me not to compromise the shots under any circumstance. I’m awed by the way he managed, without ever letting the shoot halt. He even did the few action scenes we have in the film himself.”

Barbara Mori, the beautiful Spanish actress will be making her debut in Bollywood and Basu said he knew he had the right actress as he narrated the film to her. “The day I narrated Kites to her I knew I had chosen the right actress. Her approach was definitely different, but yes, the result delivered by both, Barbara and Kangana (Ranaut) is the same - brilliant.”

In its last shooting schedule Kites will be complete in January of next year and Basu says he is nervous, “ And I must say I’m scared by the expectations… I hope the film delivers.”

Adding that the story of Kites at its core is a romance, “Kites is an intensely romantic film. There’s a lot being written about the steamy scenes. But Kites is not about sex. It’s about romance.”

Kites is just a romantic movie

•    Woody Allen’s Matchpoint is said to have inspired Kites. Is that true?
You can first see the film and then decide. Earlier, people also said Gangster (2006) was inspired by Donnie Brasco (1997). Kites is an intensely romantic film.

•    How is it working with Hrithik Roshan?
Hrithik and I really enjoyed working together. I always respected him as an actor but now I respect him as a human being too. Hrithik and I made the film honestly, just like we wanted to.

•    We have heard that there was trouble with Hrithik’s knee while shooting, true?
Yes. Before every shot I would be worried about Hrithik’s knee. If anything happened to him, then our entire outdoor shooting schedule would’ve gone for a toss. But Hrithik asked me not to compromise the shots under any circumstance. I’m awed by the way he managed, without ever letting the shoot halt. He even did the few action scenes we have in the film himself.

•     And how was it directing Barbara Mori?
The day I narrated Kites to her I knew I had chosen the right actress. Her approach was definitely different, but yes, the result delivered by both, Barbara and Kangana (Ranaut) is the same - brilliant.

•     So when will Kites be complete?
In January 2009. And I must say I’m scared by the expectations… I hope the film delivers. There’s a lot being written about the steamy scenes. But Kites is not about sex. It’s about romance.

•    How much would you say you have evolved since Gangster?
That’s for the critics to judge. I am too close to Kites to evaluate myself.

Hrithik and Barbara Kiss

Who can ever forget the sensuous lip lock between Aishwarya Rai and Hrithik Roshan in ‘Dhoom 2’? Now, the history is going to repeat itself with much more passion it seems.barbara-300×300 Yet another lip lock from Hrithik Roshan

Much is being said about Hrithik’s chemistry with hot actress Barbara Mori amidst the shooting of ‘Kites’. Now the bonding is getting better each day for this.

The Mexican bombshell has gotten so comfortable working with Hrithik, director Anurag Basu and producer Rakesh Roshan , that she has been giving suggestions to make certain scenes look better. As a result what was initially planned as just a peck on the cheek was modified into a full-blown smooch after actress Barbara Mori insisted.

The scene we are talking about has Hrithik and Barbara jumping from a great height. Before the deadly jump, Hrithik was supposed to kiss Barbara on her cheek. It was a crucial kiss, but Barbara felt a smooch would look better, considering the chemistry between the lead characters in the film.

After some deliberation, Barbara’s suggestion has been incorporated into the scene. And instead of a kiss, Hrithik smooched her before the two did the stunt. What say Papa Roshan?

Barbara Mori was worried to come to Mumbai

Actor Hrithik Roshan is perhaps one of the best dancers that Bollywood has ever had. This superstar has repeatedly proved and displayed his love for dancing in almost all the movies that he has starred in till date.

But what exactly happened when this dancing sensation from Bollywood met another dancing superstar, Michael Jackson? The meeting happened by chance. Hrithik was shooting in Los Angeles for his father’s film Kites, when Michael Jackson, who was in the vicinity, decided to drop in and meet him.

Hrithik confirms the news. He says, “He happened to be visiting the location where we were shooting and meeting him was a pleasant surprise. We didn’t really have much of a conversation. We took some pictures and chatted with him for a bit. He spoke about what little he knows about Hindi movies.”

Talking about Kites, the film is scheduled to be shot in Mumbai now. However, there were rumours that the lead actor Barbara Mori was hesitant about coming to the city after the terror attacks.

Her hero Hrithik confirms that news too. He says, “Yes, Barbara was a little worried. But weren’t we all scared? We had to talk to her again.” He adds that Barbara was easy to convince though, “as she is too professional not to come at all”. So, the last schedule of the film in Mumbai will be as planned earlier. Well, all’s well that ends well.

Anurag Basu talks about Kites

Having recently returned from the US after finishing one leg of the films, Basu tells us about the progress on his film and working with Barbara.

We hear Barbara is coming to Mumbai for the remaining schedule.

Yes, the movie will be shot in various locations in Mumbai. Some we will shot in the studios while some will be done outside. But most of the major outdoor scenes have already shot in US so just few interior scenes are remaining.

What kind of security will there be during the Mumbai shoot considering the recent terror attack in Mumbai?

After the attack every 5 star hotel has increased their security, every studio is now secure and the same security will be there for Hrithik Roshan. Yes after the attack every one has increased their security. As far as Barbara is concerned there is no extra security as she will be staying in a top most 5 star hotel as decided as if you every hotel has increased their security, so there is not a drastic change in the security.

Which was the most interesting shoot in the US?

Every place was memorable! In New Mexico it was quite a different place to shoot…even the crew is quite different and later we came to Las Vegas which was again totally different. In these two cities earlier there was some difficulty as we were not able to adjust to their style of working but later on it was really a nice experience to work with two talented foreign crews.

There are a lot of action sequences in your film. Did Hrithik’s knee injury hamper that?

Most action scenes were done by the foreign crew but Hrithik was enjoying his stunts. He is so amazing that he won’t express his pain and he will not tell us to change the shot either. I really don’t remember that because of his injury if we ever had to change a shot.

How is Barbara Mori as an actress?

As an actress we all know how good she is in acting! She is also a very good human being and we have come to know each other very well during the shoot. I now think I have not only a good co-actor but also a good friend.

Apart from Kites, you are also reviving your old project on terrorism Suicide Bomber?

Not really. I can’t revive it as I’m busy shooting with Kites. And after that I will shoot a film for UTV which is as yet untitled. But if I ever decide to revive it then I will go back to my original lead choice Rahul Bhatt.

What about Mr. India 2 then?

It’s true as we are in talks but we have to yet decide about the script as Shekhar is in US and only after he returns will I meet him and move further.

Flexy Stu and Hrithik Roshan's Chemistry in Kites Movie

US Choreographer Flexy Stu is hired for Hrithik's New Movie Kites , where he will be making the star dance to a special song.

US-based choreographer Flexy Stu is set to guide dance steps in a special song to be filmed on Hrithik Roshan in Kites. It is Rakesh Roshan production house which is producing the film and Hrithik suggested the famous choreographer for the song.

Flexy Stu and Hrithik go back a long way. They worked together in a commercial for a Hide-n-Seek biscuit. One source reveals, “Flexy and Hrithik get along very well, after the biscuit ad, Hrithik had also recommended Flexy for a couple of his other endorsements comprising a liquor and clothes brand.”

Flexy will be in India at the mid of December and will rehearse Hrithik for five days. The film is being directed by Anurag Basu and its cast comprises Roshan, Kangana Ranaut and Spanish actress Barbara Mori. Hrithik is playing the role of a Salsa teacher, while Kangana is playing as his student. The film includes dialogues in Spanish, Filipino, English and Hindi, which are likely to have sub titles in Hindi and English. It is supposed to release in summer 2009.

Hmm… the film seems quite interesting. So get ready for some good dance numbers by handsome hunk of B-town Hrithik Roshan.

Barbara and Hrithik Kiting Each Other

Oops. Not Kiting but kissing. Here is what happened on the sets of Kites Movie from the stable of roshan's.

Barbara makes Hrithik shed his inhibitions

While shooting for a tough and dangerous action sequence in Santa Fe, Babara Mori made her co-star Hrithik Roshan shed his inhibitions to express love in one of its natural manifestations, the kiss.

Hrithik confirmed this with matter-of-fact directness and said, “We were both supposed to jump off from a rooftop at an impossible height. Before we did so director Anurag Basu suggested that I kiss Barbara since we were doing something death-defying and dangerous.

I kissed her on her cheek to which she turned around to ask, ‘Given the same situation with your wife Susanne would you kiss her on the cheek?’ I was floored by her logic. The scene was reshot and I kissed her the way real-life couples would in the situation.

An amused Hrithik added, “Is kissing such a big deal? Hasn’t our cinema grown up? There are kissing scenes in Kites but nothing to make me squirm. I’d be more than happy watching those scenes with my wife, son and parents.

Emphasising the need to look at lip-locking in Bollywood rationally Hrithik argued, “Kites is a love story about people in love. How do people in love express their feelings? Barbara made me realise how silly we look on screen while shying away from expressing love naturally.

Kites has a long and final schedule in Mumbai, “I first shoot with Kangana Ranaut and then Barbara will join us in January,” Hrithik signed off.

Michael Jackson and Hrithik Roshan in LA

Looks like Bollywood’s light-eyed hunk, Hrithik Roshan has some Hollywood bigwig fan following. The actor was recently visited by the King of Pop, Michael Jackson himself. Now, that’s some pleasant surprise for someone who’s a big time Jacko fan.

Grapevine has it that Hrithik couldn’t believe his eyes when the ‘Pop King’ walked into his caravan in Los Angeles, where he was stationed for the shooting of Kites, being directed by Anurag Basu.

Hrithik, who was busy decking up for the next shot stood aghast when Jacko walked in his royal style. A source close to the actor revealed, “Hrithik was in his make-up room when Michael's two bodyguards entered. He was taken aback to see these burly men enter the room. On questioning them, he learnt that they were Michael's body guards.”

Hrithik who is often seen following the jazzy Jacko moves for most of his dance sequences was shocked on learning the visitors name.

“Michael introduced himself to Hrithik. It was a funny scene to see someone like him, who the whole world knows introducing himself. The two spoke for a short time and then Michael left”, adds the source.

It is believed that the singer had come to do a recce, as he was to shoot in the same bungalow the following day.

Barbara Mori (Hrithik's co-star) terrorised

Hollywood actress Barbara Mori was going to come to India in early January. But due to the recent terrorist attacks all the producers of Kites were really worried about the fact whether Barbara would be visiting the country or not.

According to sources, Barabara will be still visiting the country only after re-assurance of increase in on-set security.

According to sources, "Last schedule of the film Kites is supposed to begin from mid-December and will have Kangana and Hrithik in it.

Only after they are done Barbara will arrive. The producers confirmed that the security on the sets has been increased after the attacks and that Barbara being their guest will get more security so that she feels safe.

Hrithik also happened to be very tensed after he came to know about the attacks and therefore extra security will be provided to all the leading stars of Kites i.e. Hrithik, Kangana Ranaut and Barbara Mori."

"Due to the attacks, initially there was a possibility of postponing the schedule but as the schedule was tight it wasn't possible.

When the images of Taj and the Oberoi burning were shown all over the world, Barbara saw them and was very tensed and worried so she kept calling Hrithik and Susanne.

She was constantly discussing whether it was safe or not to come to India. It was only after Hrithik assured her safety that she was convinced" conclude the sources.

Kites is supposed to be releasing in May 2009.
